One of the best thing about babies

Is how the simplest, silliest things are so much fun. Today we spent about and hour just shaking the blinds on the patio door. And playing with crinkly bags on the kitchen floor.

You can do these things without babies around too but the neighbors always stare at you funny.

Vegas rain in June

Yesterday and today we’ve had sudden cloud bursts. I love it but it feels weird to be out in the rain when it’s so hot out.

Friday night fun

We sure know how to do up Friday nights around here!

We spent last night in the St Rose emergency room. I’ll spare you the icky details but Ellie was in pain when she went to the bathroom. They shot her up with some antibiotics and sent us home. Turns out she had a pretty serious UTI.

I’m glad we got her looked at and she is feeling MUCH better now. We had her wear pull ups last night because she was having issues trusting her bladder.

She hasn’t worn a pull up since she was 2 and she thought it was pretty funny. Although she didn’t need them today she kept them on. I told her she better be careful and not revert. We don’t want her being the only 1st grader in her class in diapers.

Couple pics from our wild night out.

Callapitters

So I am a slacker. But it isn’t my fault this time! Ok it is, but I have an excuse. A GOOD one. Ellie’s birthday was nearly 3 months ago and with her birthday money she bought one of those bugville pop up tents. She was soooo excited! I however was not thrilled because it does not come with the bugs. You have to mail away for them. PLUS you have to pay extra for the bugs! PLUS they didn’t include an envelope so you have to actually get off your lazy but, write a check, fill out a form, find your envelopes, stuff it in there, go buy stamps, then mail away for it.

See how much effort that is? Good. You’re on my side. So you can see how it took me nearly 3 months to get around to it.

Well our little fellers got here today. They are pretty darn cute let me tell ya. You can hold them in your hand and they tickle you and crawl around. They wave their little heads in the air like they are sniffing and poop on your fingers. That part is more funny than cute. And more funny when it’s not your fingers being pooped on.

Here’s Ellie and Emily enjoying our new friends. 4

One of Ellie’s last baby words is “callapitter”. I’ve corrected her but she still says it anyway and it makes me all happy and warm inside that she still has a baby word.

Hello little callapitter!

I just hope she will leave them alone. As much as I like the lil creatures I’d rather them not be crawling around the house.

Ok Julian? Stay inside you’re over priced pop up tent until you make your chrysalis. Pwetty pwease?

Have you met my daughter? (part 2)

This is Mara Isabelleh1

She’s 5.75 months old. Yes… the .75 months is VERY important. Because she is NOT yet 6 months old. No no no. Not yet. That would make her half a year. And that is not allowed. Not for MY baby!

This is what she looked like 5.70 months ago.e

She was the sweetest newborn. And an absolute angel baby. She slept great, ate great, and would make these tiny little noises that turned her father and I into mushy little puddles of lovey dovey baby talking nonsense. She said the sweetest things… like… “ah”. I guess it was more in the WAY she said it than what she said. It was kinda like… “ah“. Oh forget it, you had to be there.

Then she did what I begged her not to do. No matter how much I begged and pleaded. She got bigger.d

Pretty soon her feet stuck over the edge of her carseat. Her sleeves got shorter and shorter and the spot that her soft little head came up to on my chest kept getting higher and higher. Growing up is the cruelest part about having babies. But oh gosh. To watch her sleep, and eat and learn to use her hands and smile and laugh. It makes up for it. BARELY! But it does.

She loves to nurse, the word “bottle” does not exist in this house. Well, it does… but it’s used more like “When is this kid ever going to let me give her a bottle!?!” There’s no pacifiers anymore. Besides the rare cookie that is only amusing for 12 seconds she doesn’t want anything but mama. And that is OK with me. No really it is… ask in 3 months and it might be a different story. But for now. I’m totally down with it.g

She loves her sister, the world revolves around her sister. I don’t blame her. She’s a pretty neat kid. Don’t believe me? Read part 1! She loves the water too. She is just starting to splash but the look of amazement on her face is so adorable it puts kittens to shame. She kicks her little legs and thrusts her arms out. Water is a big hit around here.i

She has lots of names in this house. So far Marble is my favorite. But she also goes by…

Marmar

Maronster

Maronkey

Marmar Binks

Markypost

Martian

Marceroni and cheese

and Bubble breath!

Not really that last one. But I was just trying to shake things up a bit. Now it’s true I have only had 5…. .75 months with this little one. But I am in love. She is still so interesting to watch sleep. She is still so soft to hold. Her little eyes take my breath away and her smile brings tears to my eyes. And her her little “ah“, well… still turns me to a puddle of mush.f2

I love her little rooster haired mohawk. I love that she smiles at every new person she meets and I love that she squeezes my collar or hair or hand or chest (basically anything within reach) while she’s nursing and falling asleep. I love her so much. Even though it’s hard to watch them grow up it means that they are here to do the growing. I’ve learned in this life that nothing is for sure. Nothing is forever. You may never get another kiss goodnight, another tomorrow, or even another hour.  So I squeeze her tight and hold her close. I’m thankful every minute I have her and I pray for many many more.a

My baby is a Kindergarten graduate!

Oh gosh. My BABY! I used to wonder what this day would be like. I used to try to envision having a “big” kid. I used to try to imagine where exactly my life would be at what it would be like when we were here at this milestone.

bike1

Oh that? That is my big girl on her new bike. Isn’t she adorable doesn’t she look big? HUGE? So big she couldn’t possibly be my baby. No! I brought a tiny 7lb 12 oz baby girl home. NOT that big girl! Who is this impostor??

Could it be? Could this be my little freckle face, curly haired bebe?

graduate2

Oh that’s her alright. And even though I know it’ll be a blink of an eye and she’ll be graduating high school… just for today, just for a little bit longer. I’m going to pretend she’s going to be this big forever.

It helps my aching heart.

Now they are just flying out of there!

Ellie lost another tooth last night. It was during her second bite into her turkey sandwhich. She felt it give and ran over to me “Mama Mama!! Mah toos mah toos!” It was hanging there waving back and forth. All I had to do was reach in and pluck it out.

We are going to be great friends with the tooth fairy at this rate!

Forgive the pained look on her face. It is ever so hard to smile for the camera when all you want to do is watch cartoons.
